Kanye West is an American rapper, record producer, songwriter, sound engineer, former dollar billionaire and designer. He grew up in Chicago, where he was involved in music from a young age. He rose to prominence as a producer in the late 1990s and early 2000s, co-creating hits for artists such as Jay-Z, Ludacris, Talib Kweli and Alicia Keys. After dropping out of university to focus on music, he decided to become a rapper, releasing his debut album, The College Dropout, in 2004. It was followed by the albums Late Registration (2005), Graduation (2007), 808s & Heartbreak (2008), My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy (2010), the joint album with Jay-Z Watch the Throne (2011), Yeezus (2013), The Life of Pablo (2016), Ye (2018), joint album Kids See Ghosts with Kid Cudi (2018), Jesus is King (2019), Donda (2021) and its sequel, released in 2022, joint albums with Ty Dolla $ign Vultures 1 (2024), and Vultures 2 (2024).
Kanye West created the clothing brand Pastelle, which he worked on for four years. His collaboration with Nike to create signature Air Yeezy sneakers attracted attention, but forced him to close his own line. West also worked with Italian designer Giuseppe Zanotti and Japanese brand BAPE. In 2011, at Paris Fashion Week, he presented his first collection of women's clothing, but real success came with the production of Yeezy 950 Boot shoes. In the summer of 2020, the rapper surprised with his Yeezy glasses prototype. New footwear styles were released this fall, including the Yeezy Slide slide and the Adidas Yeezy Quantum and Yeezy Boost 380 sneakers.
